At the heart of Aldershot Military Museum are two Victorian, brick built barrack buildings; this tea bucket would have been part of everyday life for the soldiers living there.

  • Tea bucket

There were no dining halls, so food would have been collected from the kitchen and eaten on tables along the centre of the room. Tea would have been provided three times a day and was brought to the barrack room in buckets like this one – no doubt for each soldier to dip his cup into, unless someone was strong enough and steady enough to pour it without spillage.
