nurtures expression and empowers our bodies and minds to move and invent as the individuals we are, rather than the condition we have.' Pavilion Dance South West roll-out class.

Taught by experienced Dance For Parkinson's Tutors Julie and Liz. Liz is a physio specialising in neurological conditions and Julie has experience in yoga and hollistic movement.

The class is adapted to the ability of the participants in a fun, creative environment and can be done seated or standing. Careers or family members go free and are encouraged to participate.

What to wear and what to bring?

Wear comfy clothese and soft shoes you can move in, if desired. Bring plenty of water!

Tutors:

Julie Hand -

With a background in fitness and dance and a Reiki II practitioner, Julie’s focus is on the therapeutic aspects of conscious movement and breath to promote health, well-being and peace of mind.

Qualified with the British Wheel of Yoga and teaching since 2003, she has since spent time studying the principles of Tibetan Yoga and works to incorporate the philosophy of Kum Nye Tibetan Healing Movement into the practice.  Julie has focussed her yoga sharing on breath awareness and using it as a tool for improved well-being, relaxation and calming of the nervous system – often working on a one-to-one basis with people suffering with stress and its associated symptoms.

Julie’s teaching style is breath-led, incorporating flow and rhythm, to impart a sense of ‘Being’ in one’s body. Finding her way to the  Parkinson’s Dance Science Model in 2016 was a complete joy.

Liz Hooks –

Liz’s background is a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist after studying Bsc (Hons) Physiotherapy at Birmingham University. Liz regularly enjoys dancing, baking and keeping fit. Liz has enjoyed a variety of dance styles over the years and currently mostly participate in African Dance.  This year has provided Liz with the opportunity to perform at local festivals and carnivals and she brings her experience of performance and differing dance styles into the class room.
