Brighter Futures Programme Autumn 2024
Fancy trying some abstract watercolour painting? Let’s talk about ethereality and impermanence…
Abstract watercolours are a lot of fun. And you don’t need to ponder over complicated art concepts to enjoy them. But at the same time, there’s no reason why you can’t learn some interesting techniques along the way. After all… we all want to become better artists!
Abstract painting is an excellent way to take pleasure in watercolours without having to worry about getting things just right. The beauty of abstract art is that you can begin to use watercolours, without worrying about your level of experience, enjoying the process in the name of wellbeing.
Join a days workshop with Artist Nicky Bell exploring the wonders of watercolour on a seasonal theme of Autumn/Winter, wondering through watery lands, embracing our diverse environment and changing seasons.
Suitable for beginners to experienced artists looking to learn new techniques.
Nicky Studied BA Hons Photography at Southampton Solent University, MA Fine Art Winchester School Of Art (University Of Southampton). Originally from Bournemouth, later living in the New Forest where I mixed work, study and being a single mum to my son who has now graduated and flown the nest. Later moved the Worthing/Brighton area where I owned my own studio gallery on the seafront and exhibited widely, now back in Hampshire as a school teacher, exhibiting and holding art classes across the Hampshire area.
A contemporary visual artist specialising in ink and watercolour painting, photography, and film within the genre of landscape. Hugely inspired by nature and the natural world with reference to environment and ecology.
Using free flowing paint techniques that evoke movement and light predominantly of the sea and land. Capturing the vastness of space and atmosphere of the moment, documenting place and time. My painting techniques used are a personal development through self taught processes, free flowing and mindful, based on the wet into wet technique. I enjoy sharing my skills by teaching others the enjoyment of painting. I believe art is a great tool for expression and shared time as well as a very personal space for relaxation and creativity.
This is a one-day course taking place on Saturday 07 December 2024, 10:00am - 4:00pm.
