Brushstrokes of a Family brings together paintings, prints, designs and craft that spans two generations artists; John Edgar Platt and Phyllis Platt née Harvey-George, and Michael Platt and Joan Platt née Dickson. The exhibition offers a rare look at the shared influences, individual styles and personal journeys that shaped their creative lives.

From the pioneering colour woodcuts of John Edgar Platt to the delicate embroidery and illuminated lettering of Phyllis Platt, visitors will discover a partnership defined by skill, innovation and mutual inspiration. Their son, Michael Platt, continued this artistic legacy through his painting, pottery and printmaking, while his wife, Joan Platt, developed her own distinguished practice grounded in her training at Southampton School of Art and the Royal College of Art.

This exhibition reveals the connections between these four artists; their training, techniques, and the places that shaped them, including the Solent coastline, Blackheath, Dorset and the Beaulieu River, where Michael and Joan lived aboard their boat Moya. Together, their work forms a rich and layered family story expressed through art, craft and lifelong creative dedication.

Artwork is available for sale, and may be collected after the exhibition closes.
