Are you looking to start or grow your own small creative business?
Join us at Gosport Gallery for this free one day seminar. Get some tips on self-employment, income streams and setting up an online sales platform.
The day will be divided into 4 sessions:
Session One: The self-employed life
Whether you’ve gone to university for a creative practice or you’re a self-taught masterpiece maker, one thing you know plenty about is your artistic practice. But how confident are you in the art of running a business ... you are the business after all! These seminars cover all the basic skills you’ll need to go for it as a creative entrepreneur and prepare yourself for self-employed life.
Session Two: How to make a living as an artist
If only we could all exhibit in the Tate gallery! Making a living as an artist or maker usually involves having a range of different revenue streams. This session will explore lots of different ways artists generate income, whether it’s freelancing, exhibiting in galleries or teaching there’s something for every budding professional to think about having a go at!
Session Three: Setting up shop
While many of us love the convenience of shopping online from our sofa at 11pm, setting up your own online store can be a more confronting challenge. From Etsy and Not the High Street through to your own bespoke store with Shopify, Big Cartel, Square or Squarespace, this session will explore how to choose the right digital tools to help get your small businesses online.
Session Four: Get ready to teach
As an artist or maker, running workshops and passing on your knowledge is not only a great way of making money to support your artist practice but also a fantastic way to become more established, build relationships with galleries and building a base of customers and patrons. These seminars will guide you through how to create your own workshops, whether it’s a one off session to an ongoing course of classes, this presentation will take you through, planning, marketing and delivering fantastic lessons.
