Join us for a day of creative, enjoyable and mindful activities with Sachiko Mason. She will introduce some Japanese arts and crafts that have been enjoyed by Japanese people for many years.

In the morning, you will learn the basic skills of origami (paper folding) to create pieces which you can decorate cards with or make into bookmarks. It’s a fun activity for everyone.

In the afternoon, she will introduce Japanese calligraphy, showing you how to write Japanese characters using brushes, ink and paper. You will learn the mindset of practising Japanese calligraphy, the basic brush strokes and you will be able to write Japanese characters/words of your choice by the end of the day, so you can display them at home. You will also learn how to write your name in Japanese characters (katakana). It’s a very peaceful and mindful activity.
