Character illustration is a form of concept art which brings together drawing, design and imagination to create memorable characters. These characters can come to life in comics, graphic novels, picture books, branding, animations and many other projects.

In this one day course, illustrator Emily Harper will share tips and tricks of over 16 years experience in design and animation to help you create your own illustrated characters. We will examine what makes a successful character design, create our own ‘character generator’ for inspiration and explore how to turn your ideas into unique character concept sheets. This day is perfect for anyone who enjoys drawing and being creative and is designed to increase your confidence in getting your ideas down on the page.

Materials will be provided but feel free to bring along any artistic materials you enjoy working with, as well as collage materials or anything that inspires you.

This is a one-day course taking place on Thursday 17 October 2024, 10am - 4pm.
