This autumn, we’ll be keeping spirits high with the hilarious, family-friendly Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards, sponsored by Nikon.
The Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards is one of the world’s most popular annual photography competitions, a fixture in every wildlife photographer’s calendar and a global news phenomenon. Born from a passion for wildlife and decades of experience living and working in East Africa, the Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards began its life modestly in 2015. Since then, steered by founders Paul Joynson-Hicks MBE and Tom Sullam, it has grown into a world-renowned entertainment and conservation brand experienced by millions of people annually, always with the protection of wildlife at its heart.
The free-to-enter competition is open to wildlife photography experts and novices, each celebrating the hilarity of our natural world and helping to highlight what we need to do to protect it. From a surprised otter to a swearing turtle, our photographs transcend cultures and ages to bring a smile to faces everywhere.
Their Conservation Mission: “Through Comedy Wildlife, we aim to widen understanding and engagement with global sustainability – for the preservation of biodiversity and for the health and enrichment of everyone on Earth”. Paul Joynson-Hicks
The Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards has always been an antidote to the deluge of images of animals and habitats in peril which can be hard for audiences to digest. By showing how alike humankind and wildlife really are, its content can tap into the viewer’s innate empathy. You don’t need to cover your eyes or look away, but rather share in the wonder of nature and take the time to recognise its value.
The Gallery will be host to the exhibition whilst the 2024 winners are announced.
