The Winchester Textile and Embroidery Group are delighted to be returning to City Space with a vibrant selection of work completed over the last 3 years. Expect to see a blend of both traditional and modern stitch techniques together with more experimental work which challenges the concept of this ancient craft. A colourful and eclectic range of fabric, thread and found object combine in this exhibition, showcasing the skilled work of our members. Many of the items on display will be for sale, giving you the opportunity to own a unique piece of work from an expert maker.
The Group, formally the Winchester branch of the Embroiderers Guild, is now a successful and thriving independent organisation aiming to promote the craft and inspire people of all ages. With our new identity in mind, the title of the exhibition, ‘Continuing the Thread’, reflects our continuing passion for textile and stitch in all of its forms.
