Deeds of Arms presents Nelson's Navy at Westbury Manor Museum
In 1805 Admiral Horatio Nelson’s tragic death at Trafalgar catapulted him to mythic status in British history. But what of the sailors that manned those great warships? Deeds of Arms tells the story of the Royal Navy and the crew of HMS Temeraire in the late 18th and early 19th Century.
Come aboard and meet the crew of the number three gun and their family. Discover what daily life was like 200 years ago and hear tales of mutiny, battle and heroism that set a course for the Britain we know today.
Find out if you have what it takes to be a sailor in the Royal Navy. Keep the trade routes open, colonial concerns safe from piracy, and above all Napoleon and the dreaded French at bay!
