People living with dementia and their carer, are invited to book a visit to the museum on specially selected days to ensure we can give you the warmest welcome.
All staff and volunteers will be trained dementia-friends, on hand to make sure you have a comfortable and safe visit.
Dementia-friendly slots take place on Tuesday 28 July, and Tuesday 11 and 25 August 2020, between 2pm and 4pm.
Hot drinks in takeaway cups and prepackaged cakes will be on sale to enjoy in the museum garden. You are also welcome to bring your own flask or cup from which we will serve your drink.
To keep people safe, a number of measures have been put in place to prevent the spread of Covid-19. This includes advanced bookings, limiting numbers in the museum, sanitising hand gel stations, clear signage and signposted one way routes through the museum. During our dementia-friendly slots numbers of visitors will be limited further, we will install dementia-friendly signage and plenty of friendly volunteers will be on hand for a socially distanced chat and to make your visit a pleasant one. We will also carry out additional cleaning rotas to ensure all areas are regularly and appropriately sanitised.
Please note, people living with dementia and carers are welcome to book a visit at any other available time, and are always welcome. The museum remains at all times dementia-friendly. These specific slots are provided for the convenience of those who would prefer an allocated time set aside for people with dementia and their carers only.
