The Echoes of Applause, exhibition explores the vibrant entertainment scene in Gosport. Join us at Gosport Museum and Art Gallery from Saturday 28 June.
The Echoes of Applause, exhibition explores the vibrant entertainment scene in Gosport. Step into the town’s cultural past and discover how it became a thriving hub for entertainment throughout the 1950s and the latter half of the 20th century. From live music and theatre to the golden age of cinema, Gosport played host to world-class talent and fostered a rich creative scene that shaped its unique identity.
This exhibition brings together a fascinating collection of objects, cared for by Hampshire Cultural Trust, alongside treasured items kindly loaned by members of the local community. Together, they tell the story of Gosport’s dynamic entertainment heritage – its venues, its performers, and the unforgettable moments that brought people together. Echoes of Applause is supported by funding from both The National Lottery Heritage Fund and Gosport Borough Council and is part of the Gosport Heritage Generator project which aims to celebrate the town's heritage and shine a light on its peoples, places, and potential.
Running from Saturday 28 June - Saturday 27 September 2025
