Curator James Russell has spent many years exploring the life and work of Eric Ravilious. In this wide-ranging, celebratory lecture he goes behind the scenes of the exhibition, teasing out stories about Ravilious and his times, and looking in-depth at the artist's iconic watercolours, illustrations and designs for Wedgwood.

James Russell curated the blockbuster 2015 Ravilious exhibition at Dulwich Picture Gallery. He has curated numerous other exhibitions on modern and contemporary British art, and has written a dozen books, one of which was a Sunday Times Book of the Year. He lives in Bristol.

James will also be leading curator’s tours during the day on 20 April, at 2pm and 5.30pm. The price of these is included in a ticket to the exhibition at these times. Why not make a day of it, and have lunch in our café?

This talk is part of our programming celebrating the exhibition, Extraordinary Everyday: The Art and Design of Eric Ravilious.
