You will spend the day making a felt book cover using recycled fabrics and dyed merino fibres - a wet felting method called ‘Nuno Felting’. Sarah will guide you each step of the way using this fascinating technique.
You will learn how to make a decorative flat piece of felt, and then measure, size your work, and adding a lining to achieve great results. You will be using a resist to produce a seamless piece of felt (i.e. there is no sewing involved). This workshop is suitable for beginners and the more advanced felter. All materials (except book)will be provided.
Extra information for students: - Please bring a notepad and pen (a camera is also useful, but not necessary, for visual reference). Although we will be using soapy water you should not get ‘wet’ or need to wear old clothes.
You will need a book (preferably hardback). Sarah will have a variety of different sized art books (plain cartridge paper) for sale on the day (prices vary £5-15 approx. cash or credit card on day) or do bring a book of your own (no larger than A4)
