Join us at City Museum as we commemorate the anniversary of the armistice which marked the end of the First World War
During your visit you will get a chance to see a J-Type military lorry, produced by Thornycroft, Basingstoke in 1916. The vehicle will be in front of the museum from 10am-3pm.
Then make your way into the museum where you will meet First World War reenactors. This includes the chance to discover more about the lives of your First World War ancestors. David P.Whithorn will take you through some items belonging to the soldiers as found in their packs and pockets that made their lives bearable in the trenches of the Western front. Bring along family items of your own, such as photographs, from the period for identification...find out how even a simple object can be made to tell the story of a soldier in the First World War and what became of him.
David and other First World War reenactors will be in the museum all day, so drop in anytime during opening hours (please be aware that there may be restricted numbers at any one time).
