Generate Skills is part of a wider National Lottery Heritage Fund project, Gosport Heritage Generator, which aims to develop and sustain organisations and individuals working in or around heritage in Gosport through the provision of free training, grants, exhibitions, events and new community resources.
Topics were selected after local consultation, and the first round of training is now open for booking. All participants in the training programme will then be eligible to apply to the ‘Generate grants’ programme which provides grants of up to £5000 to develop projects with clear links to Gosport’s heritage and that involve a broad spectrum of the community.
Below is a list of the training sessions - individuals are more than welcome to book and attend multiple sessions.
An introduction to digital marketing - Wednesday 6 November
A course from personal branding expert Annelies James that is designed to demystify digital marketing practices, using plain language to demonstrate how it can promote not for profits, freelancers and charitable organisations.
Event planning essentials - Wednesday 13 November
This interactive workshop led by the Portsmouth Guildhall events team, participants will learn the essentials of how to design and deliver a successful event by covering a variety of subjects such as logistics, planning, risk assessment, and budgeting.
Introduction to sustainable practices - Wednesday 20 November
In this workshop, Nick Coles aims to empower community organisations, charities,not-for-profits and freelance arts and heritage professionals with practice knowledge and strategies to reduce their environmental impact.
Generate Grants Q&A Workshop 2 - Thursday 21 November
An additional workshop to help understand how your work relates to heritage, and what types of projects can potentially be undertaken.
An Introduction to community engagement - Wednesday 27 November
In this interactive workshop Kat Henderson will share strategies and techniques to encourage community participation in projects, events and activities.
