Green Gosport: Photography Competition

To mark the International Garden Photographer of the Year (IGPOTY) exhibition being shown in Gosport for the first time, IGPOTY and Hampshire Cultural Trust have teamed up to offer a new free to enter special photographic competition.

Grab your camera and use photography to celebrate the green spaces and biodiversity found in Gosport and the surrounding Gosport peninsula extending to include the Titchfield Haven Nature Reserve across to Salterns Lake. Capture the beauty of your own private garden or your favourite local green spot such as Stoke Lake, Alver Valley Country Park or Walpole Park to reveal the peninsula’s outstanding flora and landscapes through photography. 

Age 18+ category

First prize: 

  • A monetary prize of £100
  • Your image goes on show in our pop-up display
  • A copy of IGPOTY Book 11
  • Signed individual certificate

Second prize:

  • A monetary prize of £50
  • Your image goes on show in our pop-up display
  • A copy of IGPOTY Book 11
  • Signed individual certificate

 

Age 8 – 17 category

First prize: 

  • A £50 Amazon voucher
  • Your image goes on display in our pop-up display
  • A copy of IGPOTY Book 11
  • Signed individual certificate

Prizes supported by Hampshire Cultural Trust, Gosport Info and The Friends of Gosport Museum.

There will be a further eight entries selected as Highly Commended which will also go on display in the pop-up exhibition.

Opening date for entries: 1 March 2019

Closing date for entries: 1 May 2019

Pop-up Exhibition: 31 May and 3 - 8 June 2019

RULES

General rules:

You may not submit watermarked images with your name or website visible on the photo. Please do not frame your images with borders.

Entrants may submit a maximum of 4 images per single entry token and a maximum of 6 images per portfolio entry token.

For free-to-enter competitions you should enter 1 image per token given, upto a maximum of 8 images (8 tokens).

Entrants' images must be .jpg or .jpeg format and of high enough quality.

We recommend all images are output to 1920px on their longest side at 72 ppi. Any larger than this and you are supplying images bigger than they will be seen or used by IGPOTY judges; your files will take longer to upload and/or download to judges and viewers’ screens.

The absolute maximum for each image must not be more than 7MB in file size and no more than 3000px on their longest side.

All entrants must be able to supply a high-res image (300dpi) suitable for printing/exhibiting should the image be shortlisted. You may be asked for this when the time comes. IGPOTY can help you with this if need be.

Only images taken in Gosport and its surrounding areas are eligible for entry.

If shortlisted, photographers are asked to provide their current age and DOB.
