Green Room Live is back! Enjoy one of our live music nights this spring, as we bring you the best talent from across the local region.
Thursday 3 February: Around About Dusk + Erin Mansfield + Danny Tonks
Around About Dusk are an adventurous musical conception playing original music with influences ranging from musette, New Orleans jazz, old time, and European folk traditions with eclectic instrumentation and rich vocal harmonies. Although the band play as a quartet, between them they play eight different instruments meaning they provide a diverse and exciting set for listeners.
"Around About Dusk have formed from a journey to New Orleans playing on the porches of Louisiana and heading through busking festivals of Europe to campfires in England. They are warm, gentle and unique!"
With support from Erin Mansfield + Danny Tonks
Erin Mansfield (whistles/vocals) encompasses all the vigour and exuberance of young Folk. Erin’s captivating stage presence, evocative vocals, and fiery fingers make her a bright new light, stamping her passion and originality onto everything she does. “A young June Tabor” – Tim Edey. Danny Tonks (guitar/bass/vocals) is an acoustic percussive guitarist from Kent. Inspired by the likes of Andy McKee and Antoine Dufour, Danny explores the limits of what a guitar can do, and then pushes it a little further! A true wonder to watch!
'The two combine here to produce a unique, yet familiar sound, sprinkled with something just that little bit special! “We were all amazed at how quickly the set passed and I, for one, could have listened to a lot more' – Tony Birch (Green Note)
Thursday 3 March: State of Undress + Support
State of Undress – Acoustic Trio are delighted to be bringing their original music back to Green Room Live. Their songs move from the poignant and powerful to the joyously foot-tapping and often have a personal story behind them. The trio is Charlie Rose – Vocals, Alan Rose – Guitar and vocals, Mick St Michael – Bass.
Thursday 7 April: Ben Hemming
In something of a backward nod to the ways of a bygone era, its fair to say that Ben Hemming didn’t so much find the blues… as the blues found him.
It was during a particularly troublesome period in his life, stuck in a dead end job, and having watched his girlfriend walk out of his life, that he decided the only option was to seek change. Big change. Leaving all of his emotional baggage behind, he embarked upon a musical pilgrimage around America that eventually would come to define not just his sound, but also his own identity.
Since that day he has never looked back, having toured Europe and America several times since, released four albums, his latest ‘Broken Road’ released last year, and received critical acclaim; The Blues Magazine called him 'A unique musical identity’; Blues Blast Magazine described his songs as being 'of bleak beauty' and Americana U.K. placed him at the forefront of the so-called ‘new Blues’ movement.
‘A unique musical entity’ The Blues Magazine
'Songs of bleak beauty’ Blues Blast Magazine
‘This is a new blues’ Americana UK
