Join ceramicist Sian van Driel for a specialist tile-making workshop at 318 Ceramics in Farnham. Working in partnership with the Allen Gallery, Sian will be sharing her expertise in medieval patterned and glazed tiles.
The workshop will explore the special qualities of terracotta clay through a variety of decorative surface techniques including slip trailing, sponging and inlay. Students will use a selection of chosen manmade and organic materials to press into the soft clay as well as using moulds which were used to make replica Medieval terracotta tiles.
The tiles will be glazed with an earthenware glaze, which will give a beautiful and watertight finish, and fired for you to collect after the workshop.
