We are delighted to have the opportunity to showcase alternative portraiture created through The ICE project and Horizon 20:20 More and Better programme. Working with young people through two social impact programmes delivered by Hampshire Cultural Trust and in response to the BP Portrait Award on display at The Gallery, Winchester Discovery Centre.
Beginning with The ICE Project, explore a variety of artwork created by young people referred by Hampshire Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS).
It is hard to look at ourselves, to know ourselves and to present ourselves to others. This group have explored a variety of art techniques to make incredible abstract portraits of themselves. The group have been inspired by various professional artists and worked small scale and large scale with printing, charcoal, chalk, ink, paint, wood, papier maché and much more.
The ICE Project is an ambitious, innovative programme, which is a collaboration between Hampshire Cultural Trust and Hampshire Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service, provided by Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. We set out with the joint view that arts and cultural activities can have a positive impact on our psychological health and emotional wellbeing.
