Taking the next step on from the Ukulele for Beginners course, you will expand your bank of chords and learn new right-hand techniques all in the context of a selection of well-known rock and pop songs.

Ideally, you will have already attended a Ukulele for Beginners course at the West End Centre – if you haven’t please get in contact to see if this course would be suitable for you!

Tutor: Dave Stewart

Dave is an energetic and creative music leader and educator – specializing in the ukulele - who emphasizes the fun aspect of playing music whilst helping individuals and groups to progress and achieve their desired goals. He believes that patience and enthusiasm are the keys to inspiring others to not only improve their ukulele playing skills, but also help them to understand and enjoy how to play music within a group.

As well as leading Get Plucky and teaching beginners and improvers courses at the West End Centre, Dave teaches primary school classes, leads an over-60s group, runs one-off workshops and offers private tuition to adults and children. When not teaching, Dave can be seen playing with his band, Rocket Kings, and he is also a member of The Small Strings, a community ukulele band in Reading.

“Dave is a really patient teacher who always finds a way to explain the tricky bits and develops a wonderful rapport with the student. Wonderful differentiation between the levels in the class.”

“Great tutor – very encouraging. Made it fun – same time as making us work!”

'Excellent teacher; very encouraging and positive.'
