A Journey Through Clay is a learning and making experience with demonstrations, workshops, poetry, storytelling and open clay sessions with emerging fine art ceramicist Lisa Stevenson. The activities will be set against a backdrop of some selected works by the artist which chart her journey into ceramic art, begun in 2021.
All activities will be set in the Allen Gallery exhibition space, a small and intimate setting which backs onto the gallery's beautiful garden.

Emerging fine art ceramicist Lisa Stevenson of Snowdrop Studio, near Alton, presents a programme of demonstrations, workshops, poetry, storytelling and open clay sessions, supported by an exhibition charting her own journey into ceramics.

A great introduction to the world of slab building! Each session is 2 hours. Included in the price is a 30 minute demonstration of wedging, rolling, slab building and decoration techniques, with 75 minutes to practice hand building in clay and 15 minutes clean up at end.
All materials, tools and tuition are included per session. At the end of the session you can either pop the clay into the recycling area, take it home and have it as a memento or ask Lisa to fire it for you at an additional charge of £10 per piece. The firing can take a while and expect around a month to go through the kiln process to be ready for collection in Medstead at Snowdrop Studio.
Clay is messy, so please wear old clothes and bring your own apron ( these are not provided).
To book the class you will need, to be over 16 years old if coming alone or 11 years old accompanied by an adult. As with all of our classes tea, coffee & biscuits are complimentary? It is the perfect way to have some you time with a friend and be in the moment with clay.
£30 per head, supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Join Lisa and work with a ceramicist, at our open clay tables. Free to pop in and play with clay, 10.30 - 1pm.
Each individual will be able to use a small work area, tools and receive one ball of clay to have a play with. Get creative and ask Lisa for ideas. There will be lots of inspiration in the room from Lisa’s work and the opportunity to use surface design, carving tools, imprint to use with your ball of clay. At the end of the session you can either pop the clay into the recycling area, take it home and have it as a momento or ask Lisa to fire it for you at an additional charge.
