Koala was founded in 2019 with the aim of creating a specialist school for young people who could not access mainstream education.  As time passed, we realised that there was a need for more support within the wider autistic and neurodivergent community.  The launch of the Koala Community Hub, in June 2021, saw the creation of a true community 'one stop shop' that provides a learning environment for those young people who struggle to access mainstream education as well as facilitating the empowerment and authentic connections for neurodivergent people in our local community.

Thanks to the Museum of the Iron Age, we have an exciting opportunity to share in the success of all the brilliant young people who access our educational provisions as well as our fantastic community members that come to our community hub. From 6th March until 12th April, Koala will be ‘taking over’ part of this wonderful museum and displaying an array of creations made by all the individuals who are a part of the charity; showing what makes them truly unique and what Koala means to them. As an evolving display, the exhibit will change over time and offer something different to see with each visit. Our community are currently busy drawing, painting, sewing, photographing, building and baking (to name but a few) creations ready to go on display.

So why not come along and join us in celebrating our community by visiting the museum, finding out more about our charity, and seeing our exhibit during the 6 weeks we are there from 6th March.
