Hilary Kimber is an embroidery and needlework artist based in Alton. She was a member of the former Alton branch of the Embroiderers Guild and is an experienced and prolific embroiderer.

In this exhibition, taking place in the gallery cafe area, Hilary will be sharing for the first time a panel of nine works inspired by the Allen Gallery ceramics collection, charting a fascinating journey of interpretation from the more literal to the more abstract. There will be a range of her other current work on display, as well as a wide selection of small cards available to purchase.

The exhibition is open from Tuesday - Sunday, 10.30 am - 4.00 pm. Entry is free.

Hilary will also be delivering a series of small group workshops and demos while the show is on, which will offer an opportunity for both beginners and those more advanced to learn embroidery techniques:

Workshop 1 (beginners): Sat 11th November, 2-4 pm

Workshop 2 (more advanced): Wednesday 15th November, 10.30 - 12.30 pm

Meet the Artist: Wednesday 22 November, 2 pm. Free, drop-in session with a chance to chat to Hilary about her embroidery techniques. She will also be giving advice on mounting, hanging and presenting embroidery or textiles work. Tea will be available! Reserve online or drop in on the day, everyone welcome! This session will last approximately 1.5 hours.

Tuesday 12 December 2-4pm: Christmas Craft & Chatter - a free, drop-in seasonal embroidery session. Bring your own project and join us for mince pies and a friendly stitching session! There will also be some limited kits available to purchase on the day (subject to availability) which have been produced by Hilary specially for the gallery.
