Group 7 is a collective of established artists living and working in Dorset and Hampshire. Each artist produces powerfully mature and expressive work, where explorations of painterly abstraction are a strong link between the individuals’ practice. The group have a mutual confidence in the ability of marks, colour, gesture, and composition to communicate in their own right.
The exhibition, ‘On Paper’ will be an opportunity to consider the particular and distinct nature of works on paper and how the individual artists respond to the medium. Drawings, prints, collage and mixed-media works on paper will be included in the exhibition.
Each artist has an individual artistic vision and practice, with significant exhibiting careers. Their unifying interest is the continuation of all aspects of the fine arts including painting, drawing, printmaking, film making and sculpture through the exploration of colour and mediums. Their work intends to evoke emotional responses from the viewer as well as give commentary on the human condition and environment.
