Gosport Museum and Art Gallery is delighted to announce the return of Open Art for 2026. This year we are inviting submissions in response to the title- Our Gosport.
This exciting exhibition presents an opportunity for visitors to Gosport Museum and Art Gallery to enjoy and purchase unique artworks by local artists and creatives. The Gosport Gallery is a bright and welcoming exhibition space located in the former assembly hall of the historic Gosport Old Grammar School, a hub for education and culture situated at the heart of the high street.
The Open Art exhibition will run from Saturday 10 October until Saturday 5 December 2026.

Who can enter?
Submissions are open to all. Applications must be completed by persons aged 16+. We will have a Junior Gallery for entrants aged 12 – 18 years old- please note that a parent or guardian must apply on behalf of anyone aged 12 – 16.
What can you submit for Open Art?
Artworks in any medium will be accepted. For example: painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, photography, textiles, pottery, etc. We are unable to accept any video or sound installations for this exhibition.
How much does it cost?
Entry costs £3 per artwork. You are welcome to submit a maximum of three artworks and individual application forms must be completed for each.
When is the deadline for submissions?
Applications will be open until the end of the day on Friday 4 September 2026. You will be notified if your application to exhibit has been successful or unsuccessful by end of day Friday 11 September 2026.
The submission process is online only and artworks to be included in the exhibition will be chosen by a group panel. Judging will be subjective and based on qualities such as creativity, appeal and technique, and we will endeavour to exhibit a variety of media and styles.
How do I present my work?
All 2D artworks should be framed, or be on canvas with picture hanging fixings or mirror plates attached at the side. Mirror plates and fixings are available in most hardware shops. All 3D works should be able to stand stationery with no assistance.
All work should arrive with a label. If a 2D work, attached to the back of the frame/ artwork. If a 3D work, on the underside of the object . This label should state your name, title of the artwork, and selling price if it is for sale.
The Gallery will be creating wall labels for all artworks.
