The West End Centre has seen some absolute legends come through the doors, and everyone has to start somewhere. Our monthly local showcase welcomes up and coming artists, alongside some special guests. This month we have Redwood - a dynamic, five-piece alternative rock outfit from Hertfordshire, UK. Drawing influence from a range of genres from pop to post-rock, they combine delicate melodies and thought provoking lyrics with intricate, shimmering guitars and powerful choruses with explosive endings. On record they’re nothing short of impressive, but the live show is where this band truly shines; energetic, atmospheric, bold and emotionally powerful.
Bridges' frontman Ethan Proctor’s warm vocals are at the forefront, reminiscent of Frightened Rabbit's Scott Hutchison or Manchester Orchestra's Andy Hull, though it’s within the bands synergy where the real moments are born. The sound is melodic with thought provoking lyrics, following a mantra of ‘honest’ writing that brings the stories to life. They are an outfit that values the importance of holding back so a moment connects, just as much as the release of crashing waves of synthesisers and distortion.
"Born in the same house as Frightened Rabbit and The Gaslight Anthem the quintet clearly have their eyes set on filling the stadium-sized hole their songs demand." - Far Out Magazine
"Bridges are masters at beautifully crafted indie music that tugs on the heartstrings with tender vocals, sparkling compositions, and captivating lyrics. The band are a showstopping talent waiting to be discovered." - God is in the TV
"Soft, supple songwriting with a dark edge" - Clash Magazine
Dundee based alternative rock band Red Vanilla's sound varies from soundscape guitar and synth to catchy heavy riffs while always maintaining a pop hook.
