Join us as we celebrate 80 years since the chance discovery of Rockbourne Roman Villa.

From the earliest Iron Age settlement to the opening of the current museum 50 years ago, we’ll explore the key chapters of what we know about this special archaeological site through immersive, family friendly living history displays and activities, all set in the beautiful village of Rockbourne.

Come face to face with Saxon Warriors and Roman Soldiers, learn more about the site's Iron Age past and take a tour of the site with a leading archaeologist. There will also be a display on the history of the excavations of the site, and lots of craft and making activities for children including decorating your own shield and making a mosaic plaque.

To celebrate the discovery of Rockbourne Roman Villa in 1942, and the presence of American Airforce in the area at the time, the event will close each day with a performance of popular swing tunes from the time.

We will also be running a costume competition so come dressed in your best toga, warrior gear, 1940s vintage or 1970s flares!

Tickets are for one day. Gates open at 10am.

Picnics welcome. Dog friendly.

Free parking, however, parking is limited so please car share where possible as there are no public transport links to Rockbourne.
