ABOUT THIS PROGRAMME

Come and get creative with clay on the Stepping Stones programme. This fun, hands-on pottery course is your chance to relax, try something new, and enjoy making your own ceramic pieces in a small, friendly group.

You’ll be working with real clay and learning how to shape, build, and decorate your own creations, guided by ceramic artist Karen Townsend. There’s no pressure to be “perfect” — this course is all about experimenting, having fun, and discovering what you can do.

The sessions take place at Gosport Museum & Art Gallery, a welcoming space full of stories, art, and local history. We’ll even look around the exhibitions for ideas and inspiration before making our own work.

You’ll learn lots of exciting skills, including:

• Making pinch pots
• Building with slabs and coils
• Creating tiles
• Simple sculpting
• Decorating with colourful glazes

The sessions are flexible, so you can work at your own pace, follow your interests, and get support when you need it. It’s also a great chance to meet new people, make friends, and enjoy being creative in a calm, welcoming space.

ABOUT STEPPING STONES:

The Stepping Stones programme promotes positive mental health and provides regular opportunities for young people to use creativity to build emotional resilience. The high quality programmes are delivered by professional artists and held in Hampshire Cultural Trust venues. Joining the programme will boost confidence, communication and social skills. HOW TO GET INVOLVED:

• To be eligible for this programme participants need to be aged 10 – 16 years.
• This programme is free of charge and all materials will be provided.
