ABOUT THIS PROGRAMME

Inspired by Bees: Art, Nature & Discovery

A Creative Course for Home Educated Children (Ages 9–14)

What is it about bees that inspired a man 400 years ago to write a book — and even compose music — about them?

Charles Butler of Wootton St Lawrence was one of the first people to recognise that the Queen Bee was female, a discovery that changed how people understood the hive forever. His curiosity, careful observation, and fascination with bees continue to inspire us today.

In this creative course at the Willis Museum, alongside the Bees! exhibition, children will explore bees through a range of imaginative art and craft activities. Using different materials, they will observe, design, create, and experiment while learning about the remarkable world of the hive.

There will also be time to connect and socialise with other home educating families in a relaxed and inspiring museum setting.
