Join us this autumn for another five weeks of Stitchery Pokery.
In our spring course we began exploring the joy of drawing, painting and stitching into fabric by looking at the beautiful and huge work by Alice Kettle in the Café with its pattern and simple figures which gave us a wonderful freedom to experiment . Later in the course we visited the Yinka Shonibare exhibition and made work in response to that as you can see in the image below, in Polly's vibrant chicken paint, fabric and stitched collage. With growing confidence and playfulness everyone went on to make work from their own ideas.
For this next course, will be drawing inspiration for our Stitchery Pokery from the amazing ground breaking work of Ray Harryhausen, which is coming to the Arc in September.
