During Jane Austen’s short life of 42 years, Britain was at war and under threat of foreign invasion for 31 of them. This talk covers some of the events that Jane and her family would have experienced and heard about on the “home front” of the time. Historian Alan Turton will shed light on this turbulent point in history.
