Brighter Futures Programme Autumn 2024
This one-day course led by Sarah L Goy takes a relaxed, playful, and supportive approach to exploring the calming benefits of Watercolour painting. You will be introduced to simple water colour techniques and different experimental styles of painting, explore the joy of colour, colour mixing, and how feelings can be expressed through patterns, washes and mark making. We will learn what colour means to each of us as we chat and paint together creating abstract watercolour artworks. The process of painting mindfully with watercolour naturally calms the mind and is a useful technique to use at home for relaxation, to ease anxiety and take time out for yourself.
These sessions are suitable for absolute beginners, to give you the confidence in using watercolour and encourage experimentation to express your feelings whilst enjoying the process of painting. It may also inspire you to go on and do further art courses. All materials will be provided, but if you have art materials you would like to bring along, please do. Please bring an apron or dress for mess.
Sarah is a professional artist and animator based in Hampshire, and a visiting lecturer at AUB. Since 2017, Sarah also creates and runs art therapy styled creative sessions encouraging adults to embrace play to gain new skills whilst encouraging a sense of community and inclusivity.
This is a one-day course taking place on Monday 25 November 2024, 10am-4pm.
