Welcome to Whitehill and Bordon was a six month Heritage Lottery Funded project managed in partnership by Radian Housing and Hampshire Cultural Trust.
The initiative sought to capture and share the unique stories of the community of people who live in Whitehill and Bordon through
oral history interviews and written memories.
During the project heritage was used as a mechanism through which to connect with the existing community and welcome the new residents moving into the area.
Between April and September 2018, memories from members of the local community were captured along with images and artefacts through a series of events and drop in sessions. These were used to inspire school children from Bordon Juniors, who worked with a local artist to create two large mosaics which were hung in Café 1759 in Bordon. The mosaics will subsequently be moved to Bordon Juniors School.
This exhibition is a culmination of the project’s achievements, revealing the lesser known heritage of Whitehill and Bordon and the personal experiences of the people who live there.
