Westy Youth Theatre 8-12 years Monday 29 April - 8 July 5pm - 6.30pm (no class 22 April, 6 and 27 May)
Getting on stage and performing in front of others can seem a little daunting at first, but we have a very friendly, welcoming and inclusive environment – everyone supports everyone else and we’re all here to learn from each other.
Our 12-week course is for both newcomers and more experienced actors alike. Our classes are relatively informal but do adopt a structured approach. We play theatre games that are useful for establishing trust, unlocking creativity, and having fun! We also focus on technical areas and functional skills; voice projection, character creation, improvisation, stage craft – in small groups or solo – practicing various acting techniques and play-devising.
Most terms we will work toward a production, either working with an existing script or offering other actors an opportunity to both write and direct short pieces. We put up our productions in the theatre in front of an invited audience of up to 100 people.
Our golden rule is we respect each other and share a common love of drama – creating something unique together.
