The Gallery at The Arc, Winchester is a stunning, government indemnity standard exhibition space which allows it to receive works and artefacts of international importance.
The Gallery has a programme of exceptional quality and varied temporary exhibitions which include our own curated exhibitions and works from national lenders such as Tate, British Museum and Victoria & Albert Museum to name a few.
Major exhibitions at the Gallery have included Turner and the Sun, the first exhibition to explore the artist’s relationship with the sun; The Mysterious Miss Austen, which brought together for the first – and in all likelihood, only – time, the six known portraits of the author and Gerald Scarfe: Stage and Screen, a close-up look at the prominent cartoonist’s work in film, opera and ballet design. The Gallery also draws on objects and art from the remarkable, internationally important collections cared for by Hampshire Cultural Trust.
While you are at The Gallery, make the most of the many facilities that The Arc has to offer, including its comprehensive events programme.
Your visit
Hampshire Cultural Trust is a registered charity. The coronavirus crisis has had a huge impact on all of us. Please donate to help us re-connect our communities through culture.
The Gallery is located on the first floor of The Arc, Winchester. During your visit to the Gallery, take in our sister venue, City Space, a vibrant and versatile gallery which showcases the very best of Winchester’s thriving arts and heritage scene.
Every year, we host a special exhibition which has an admission charge. The remaining exhibitions in our programme are free, but we suggest a donation of £3.00 to help us continue to bring world-class exhibitions to Hampshire.
The Arc has permanent street-level access from the Jewry Street Car Park entrance through an automatic door into the building. There are two Blue Badge parking bays in the Jewry Street Car Park next to The Arc which are directly opposite the accessible entrance. Parking is free for Blue Badge holders. Accessible toilets are available within The Arc and there is a lift from the ground floor to the first floor, where the Gallery is located.
Assistance dogs are welcome, as long as they are clearly identifiable.
