To help keep everyone safe, our venues are all currently closed. We will re-open as soon as we can, until then, visit Culture on Call, where we continue to bring arts, culture and heritage straight to you, wherever you are.

Staying Safe

To help keep everyone safe, we’ve made some changes at Andover Museum. We have introduced a number of measures in line with government guidelines to help manage our visitor numbers and ensure we maintain social distancing to protect you, our staff and volunteers. Please read on for information about booking your visit and what to expect when you are with us.

What we are doing to help reduce the spread of COVID-19

• Introducing advanced booking to reduce queues 
• Using signage to help you maintain social distance
• Asking for cashless payment wherever possible
• Providing hand sanitiser for you to use
• Taking away high-contact exhibits and displays

Booking your visit 

We have introduced advanced booking to Museum of the Iorn Age to help us manage our visitor numbers. Booking your visit is free. Timed visits to the museum take place at 10:00am, 12:00pm and 2:00pm. Please book a visiting time for each member of your party, including children.

Book your visiting time

Your visit will give you two hours to explore the museum and its grounds. Our team will give you 30 minutes notice before your visit is due to end. 

Please do not visit if you or any members of your household are showing symptoms of COVID-19 or if you have been in contact with anyone who has it. Information on how to re-book or cancel your visit is detailed on your booking confirmation.

Social distancing and hygiene 

During your visit, we ask that you follow our guidelines on social distancing and hygiene to help keep us all safe. We are operating a one-way system at Andover Museum, which is indicated by signage. Hand sanitiser stations are positioned at the entrance to the museum and the exit. To keep everyone safe, please wear a face covering when visiting Museum of the Iron Age.

Toilet facilties

Our accessible toilet is open for use by our visitors.

Café and picnics

Takeaway snacks and refreshments are available to purchase from the museum. Please do not bring a picnic with you.

We’re passing on the VAT reduction on all applicable products. The reduction will be applied at the till when you make your purchase.

Bring Your Own Cup

Get 30p off your next hot drink in the museum café when you bring your own reusable cup! Simply present your cup to a member of café staff to claim your discount. 

Gift shop

Our gift shop is open as normal. Please use cashless payment for any purchases.

Exhibits

To help keep us all safe, we have reviewed exhibits, interactives and spaces which may pose a risk of spreading the virus. All family interactives have been removed from the galleries. Please note that two museums are located inside the same building.

The Visit Britain We’re Good to Go symbol shows that Museum of the Iron Age has followed government and industry COVID-19 guidelines and that we have processes in place to help keep everyone safe.

Accessibility

The museum has a free car park with a disabled bay. There are steps to the front entrance with handrails and an accessible entrance to the rear of the building. The ground floor, including the shop and temporary exhibition gallery, is accessible to wheelchairs. There is a stairlift to the first and second floors. There are some restrictions in the building, please contact us on 01264 366283 before making a special journey.

How to get here

By car: from the A303 and inner ring road, follow signs for the town centre and brown signs for Andover Iron Age Museum.  At New Street roundabout, turn into Newbury Street and then first right into Church Close. The museum is the last building on the right. Our car park is next to the museum and pay and display parking is available off Newbury Street.

By rail: the museum is within walking distance of Andover Station. At the end of Station Approach, turn right into Charlton Road. At the roundabout, head right, cross Western Avenue Road then head up Charlton Road into Marlborough Street. At the top of the road, turn left into Newbury Street and then take the first left into Church Close.

By bus: Andover Bus Station is a 10 minute walk away through the Chantry shopping centre. Follow blue signs in the High Street
