This year has been extremely challenging for all of us but has demonstrated, more than ever, the importance of community and culture to not only entertain us while we’ve been isolating but also to help gain a greater understanding of ourselves and the world around us.

Did you know that:

  • Four out of five young people in our community have experienced declining mental health during lockdown
  • 90,000 older people live by themselves in our community and have been disproportionally affected since the Coronavirus
  • There are approximately 60,000 veterans in our community living with a number of challenges including disability and PTSD
  • Every child in our community has had their education significantly disrupted due to the pandemic, with many struggling to return to school

Hampshire Cultural Trust puts our communities at the heart of everything we do and we invite you to support those in our community who need a helping hand, and to share your Christmas wish on our Community Christmas Tree.

By hanging a bauble on our Community Christmas Trees you are helping to:

  • support over 1,000 young people improve their mental health and wellbeing through positive creative activity
  • provide opportunities for older people to access local community support and reduce loneliness and isolation
  • ensure veterans can continue their mental health and wellbeing recovery in a safe, reflective space which helps connect them to their community
  • support school children in our community re-engage with education through inspirational and interactive learning experiences

This year our Community Christmas Trees are based at: Aldershot Military Museum, Allen Gallery, Curtis Museum, Gosport Gallery, Red House Museum and Gardens, West End Centre and Willis Museum and Sainsbury Gallery and we would love to welcome you to join in the festive spirit with our staff and volunteers.

If you are unable to visit our venues, please donate anything that you can to help change lives through culture. Thank you.
