The Allen Gallery houses a wealth of hand painted items, from meticulously decorated ceramics to W.H. Allen's beautiful scenes of rural life in Hampshire and Surrey. In January's exhibition we celebrate the many ways artists work with paint as a creative medium.
Inspired on Thursdays showcases the varied interests and artwork of the members of the Alton Art Society Paint Group which meets every Thursday, from portrait to landscape, from still life to painting en plein air, in various media.
Throughout the show members of the group will be in the gallery to answer any questions and will also be running ad hoc painting demos. New members are welcome and information will be available on how to join Alton Art Society and the Paint Group.
The show is open from 10.30 - 4.00 every day.
On Saturday 20th January sign up for a teens and young adults' abstract painting class from 2 - 4pm with local artist Chris Horner, please email allen.gallery@hampshireculturaltrust.org.uk to register interest. Age 12 - 17. Interactive and inspiring, this session promises to bring to life the concept of working with paint.
