The English Civil Wars (1642-1651) affected every part of the British Isles and Ireland. Thousands of men fought on both sides, some willingly but the majority pressed into service.

The Friends of the Aldershot Military Museum are delighted to announce the details of their next free history talk. With the aid of artefacts and reproductions, the talk tells the story of the daily lives of the common soldiers, both royalist and parliamentarian. Discover what they wore, ate and fought with - and what happened to them when the war ended.

Alan Turton is a renowned local military historian who specialises in the English Civil War. The talk will be on Sunday 15 May 2022 at 2pm in the Boyce Building of Aldershot Military Museum, finishing around 3.30pm. The talk is free of charge, and parking is available at the Museum. (Entrance to other museum buildings is subject to the usual admission fee).
