This course aims to promote fitness and wellbeing through dance and creative movement. It will use dance to gently improve fitness levels and physical skills such as coordination and balance. Participants will increase confidence in creating dance movements and work with various themes. Throughout the course participants will learn to perform a variety of dances to music, increase their stamina when dancing, create movement ideas, use a variety of props and learn how to keep themselves safe when dancing.  

Tiffany Matthews, who is a qualified dance specialist leads this class. She has worked with various age levels and abilities within the community previously and likes to create a fun and relaxed atmosphere in her classes. The course is suitable for adults with mild/moderate learning difficulties, beginners or those who enjoy dancing to music and would like to improve their physical skills and be creative.  

You should wear comfortable clothes and shoes that are suitable to move in freely.  You may wish to bring your own drink to keep hydrated, although water will be provided. 

This course takes place over eight weeks, Thursdays 9 May - 4 July 2024, 12:30pm-1:30pm.

Brighter Futures Courses are free of charge, and all materials will be provided. These courses are part of the Hampshire County Council Adult Community Learning Programme, Hampshire Learns. To be eligible for a course you must be 18+ years old, live in Hampshire and feel as though your mental health and wellbeing may benefit from attending a creative course.
