From the functional to the unusual and quirky, drop in to see our monthly highlight from the Hampshire Cultural Trust ceramics collection! This month we bring you a tin glazed earthenware bowl by potter Edgar Campden (1930 - 1998), celebrating all things spring (and Alton's own beer festival at the end of May).
While Alton's Allen Gallery is temporarily closed for a major refurbishment and redisplay of its permanent ceramics collection, the programme of events and community activities will continue from the Curtis Museum, thanks to support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, East Hampshire District Council and Alton Town Council.
Each month we are highlighting objects from the Allen Gallery that are usually housed in the Hampshire Cultural Trust stores at Chilcomb House in Winchester. Some of the objects may not have been on display for a long time, or perhaps at all, so do pop back to the museum each month to see the ceramics we have selected for you to enjoy.
