Unlock the beautiful, free-flowing alchemy of watercolour with a focus on subtle free flowing landscape with added drawn details.

This is a techniques-based workshop designed to help you relax and embrace the unique nature of this medium whilst learning a simple book making technique, encapsulating the season. We'll explore techniques that harness the unpredictable beauty of watercolour, turning the "tricky to control" nature into a strength.

You will gain hands-on experience and knowledge in essential watercolour concepts, alongside professional artist Nicky Bell including:

  • Making a simple handmade concertina style sketchbook.
  • How to layer your work embellishing it with simple drawing techniques.
  • Wet-on-Dry and Wet-into-Wet Techniques: Learn how to use these fundamental methods to create stunning effects, from crisp details to soft, atmospheric blends.
  • Colour Mixing: Master the art of mixing your own gorgeous, luminous seasonal inspired palettes.
  • Brush Techniques: Discover a variety of strokes and grips to achieve different textures and effects.

We will be working from reference, imagery and delving into your imagination, focusing on capturing the freshness and colour of the season.

No Experience Necessary!

This workshop is perfect for complete beginners and those looking to refresh their skills with something new. Some basic drawing skills are required. All that's needed is a little time and patience—we'll take it one step at a time. Come ready to relax, enjoy the process, and let the watercolour flow!
