Rediscovering the Allen Gallery – if you have ever visited, we would love to hear from you, please click here to complete our survey now!

Alton’s Allen Gallery is home to one of the nation’s most outstanding collections of ceramics. Since 2022, supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, we’ve been on a journey to rediscover the Allen Gallery for the community and town of Alton. Now, the next chapter is about to begin! The gallery will close on Tuesday 23 December 2025 for major redevelopment - a transformation that will breathe new life into this much-loved space. We’re creating a vibrant cultural hub with refurbished galleries, a dedicated community space, and fresh ways to experience our nationally and internationally important ceramics.

Your views really matter to us and we would love to hear from you on your experience of visiting the gallery. We are offering a free hot drink for every completed survey, online here, or in our café (on paper). You can also enter your details into our prize draw for a shopping voucher.

Please share your thoughts and help us make the Allen Gallery an even more inspiring place for generations to come.

The Rediscovering the Allen Gallery project is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to reimagine the gallery displays and offer a new activities programme for all the community. Our community programme is generously supported through funding from East Hampshire District Council.

Please note that the first floor of the Allen Gallery will be closed from Monday 24 November 2025 as we begin the careful packing and moving of our collections ahead of the exciting major redevelopment works that start this Christmas!
