The workshop will provide an introduction to patchwork and the traditions and variety of types. Showing the origin of patchwork as a frugal way of using up odds and ends of fabric from other projects or possibly worn out and unrepairable clothes. The tutor will bring examples of her own work as well as her library of resources.

A calm and slow day of hand stitching, improvisational, without patterns or the need for exact measurements – allowing you to create your own mini piece of artwork which will show the basics of stitching, colours and shapes and provide you the techniques to develop further.

Techniques covered:

  • Hand quilting
  • Simple fold over binding and finishing

Sewing Level: Suitable for beginners, but some experience of hand sewing is helpful.
