Home Education Programme at The Arc - Patterns of Identity: Inspired by Yinka Shonibare
Explore a world of bold colours, patterns, and imagination in this 5-week art workshop with other Home Educated children; inspired by British-Nigerian artist Yinka Shonibare.
Children will explore how art can tell stories about identity, culture, and creativity through hands-on projects using paint, collage, textiles, and recycled materials. Each week, they’ll experiment with pattern-making, design their own colourful fabrics, create imaginative figures, and build 3D story scenes inspired by Shonibare’s playful, thought-provoking artworks.
The workshop will end with a mini exhibition where children share their creations and reflect on what their art says about who they are and the stories they wish to tell.
These five sessions will be facilitated by Artist Educator and former Home Educator Veronica Williams. All materials will be provided. This home education programme is based on the Yinka Shonibare exhibition which will be at The Arc in 2026.
