ABOUT THIS PROGRAMME
A Winchester Adventure
A 5-Week Creative History Journey for Home Educated Children (Ages 9–14)
Step into the past and explore the rich history of Winchester through art, storytelling, and hands-on making. Over five weeks, children will take part in a series of creative sessions inspired by the archaeological and heritage collections of Winchester City Museum. As they journey through different historical periods, each child will create their own Visual Diary — a personal record of their discoveries, ideas, and artworks.
Using a wide range of art materials, children will experiment with drawing, painting, collage, and model-making while developing their imagination, observation skills, and creative confidence. During the second week, the group will spend a special session together at Winchester City Museum, sketching, observing artefacts, and gathering inspiration directly from the city’s history.
This workshop offers home educated children the opportunity to learn, create, and connect with others in a supportive and inspiring environment, where history comes alive through art.
