From authors and artists to scientists and suffrage supporters, our Women in Art & History Trail celebrates the lives and achievements of women whose stories deserve to be told. Some changed the world through literature. Others protected nature, served their country, or stood up for equal rights. All of them left their mark on our community.

Follow the trail around the museum to meet inspiring figures such as Jane Austen, Charlotte Bonham-Carter, Sophia Emma Wickham, Elizabeth Gaskell and Anne Brewis.

Perfect for families, school groups and curious visitors of all ages, the trail offers a fun and engaging way to explore local history while celebrating women’s achievements - past and present.

Come and discover the women who helped shape our story.
