Bursledon Windmill is re-opening on Saturday 19 March for the spring season with work continuing to reinstate the windmill’s stocks and sails, as well as a whole range of activities for local and visiting families to enjoy at this historical and scenic site.

Bursledon Windmill, operated by Hampshire Cultural Trust (HCT), launched a fundraising campaign, Save Our Sails, back in March 2021 to support the costs of repairing the historic windmill’s stocks and sails. Since then, the mill has received £8,600 in funding and grants from the local community, The Aurelius Charitable Trust and The Syder Foundation, as well as £1,000 received from The Society For The Protection Of Ancient Buildings (SPAB) for the campaign. But support hasn’t stopped there - cloth for the new sails is being made and generously donated by a local sail maker. However, money still needs to be raised, so that, with continued support, HCT can keep Bursledon Windmill's sails turning and ensure this community treasure will be protected and restored for generations to come.

Work to reinstate the stocks and sails will start later this year, in the meantime, the team at Bursledon Windmill will be delivering a huge range of events between March and November, with Science Weekend being celebrated during the windmill’s opening weekend (Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 March). Other events include seasonal celebrations such as Easter Egg Trails and other activities from Ghost stories, to Yoga, family crafts and music events. The windmill will also be introducing a shiny new refreshments offer, with a brand new coffee machine and tasty treats.
