• Green Gosport: Photography Competition

A competition inviting budding photographers to capture the beauty of Gosport’s green spaces has been launched.

The Green Gosport photography competition aims to showcase the green spaces of Gosport alongside the International Garden Photographer of the Year (IGPOTY) exhibition which will be shown at Gosport Gallery this year for the very first time. Green Gosport is the innovation of IGPOTY and Hampshire Cultural Trust (HCT), which operates Gosport Gallery.

The Green Gosport competition is free-to-enter and is open to adults and young people alike. Entrants have until 1 May 2019 to grab their camera and capture the green spaces and biodiversity found in and around the Gosport peninsula.

The winner of the 18+ category will have their photo displayed in a pop-up exhibition at Gosport Old Grammar School on 31 May and 3-8 June 2019 and will also receive a copy of the IGPOTY Book 11, a signed certificate and £100 in cash.

The runner-up will also have their entry displayed at the pop-up exhibition and receive £50 supported by Gosport Info, along with a certificate and a copy of the IGPOTY book.

“Entries are currently open and close on 31 May 2019, so get out there and get snapping, we’d like you to capture the beauty of your own garden or favourite green spot such as Stoke Lake, Alver Valley Country Park or Walpole Park to reveal Gosport’s outstanding landscapes through photography,” said Tara McKinney, Visual Arts Exhibitions Manager at the Gosport Gallery.

The IGPOTY exhibition is open on 27 April and runs until 6 July 2019 at Gosport Gallery. Admission is free but donations are welcome.
